The Role
It has been an extremely enjoyable experience, learning a lot and given a fair amount of responsibility on the offset. Everyone at the firm has been extremely friendly and encouraging. There have been good opportunities to meet other interns as well as attending social events.
Everyone was extremely welcoming from the very beginning, inviting me to lunch and coffees as well as drinks and social events after work.
Know prior knowledge or skills are expected of you before you arrive and everyone has been very willing to take time out and sit down and explain anything necessary. Furthermore, you are allocated a 'buddy' who will have been there around a year and you can pretty much ask them anything. They really want to help you learn so make sure you understand everything.
As the internship is over summer it was not overly busy but there was certainly enough work to fill the time, getting involved in various projects. the hours are roughly 9.30-5.30 every day, and they actively encourage you not to stay late.
From the first day I was given tasks to do by myself that were fairly important, but everything was explained first. You get given proper work without feeling overwhelmed.
Just being in a work environment has been extremely beneficial and has been a great learning experience, especially in building confidence with those more senior.
The Company
General atmosphere is hard working but not excessively. There is no pressure to stay late and most people are chatty throughout the day as opposed to working by themselves in silence.
the internship was extremely well organised, as you'd expect of a company of this size that invests so much in the internship. The first few days were at a hotel where all the interns across the country socialised as well as received initial training. After this it has been made extremely clear how our time is set out and the process in which to get the job offer at the end. Furthermore, as you have a buddy, they give you further guidance, making sure you have good work to do and are enjoying your work.
There has not only been several training sessions, but whenever working on a new piece of work, it is ensured you understand what you are doing and people take time out to teach you important skills.

In the last week of the internship you have a meeting in which you discuss how you have done on the internship and find out whether or not you are offerred the job. If offerred the job you have the opportunity to ask for a change of office or line of service. They don't guarantee you can get this automatically and may have another interview.
The Culture
Not only were socials arranged but as we had the few days at the hotel, we made friends early on, meaning we had friends in the office, so there are always people to go to lunch with etc.
London
London
Other than socials and drinks, nothing else was openly offerred.
