    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I found the internship really enjoyable. I got to experience a wide variety of work and everyone was really friendly. There was a good 4 day induction at the start of the internship which was a great way to begin the internship because I met all the other interns in my office before we actually started properly working.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone I have worked with has been really friendly and willing to help. Everyone encourages you to ask questions and are more than happy to explain things. People I worked with were also very positive and appreciative of the work I did.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was a lot of guidance and support. Everyone is assigned a people manager on their first day as well as a buddy who is closer to you in age and grade. Both are really useful contacts

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The vast majority of the time I have been a good level of busy. I have been assigned to a variety of jobs both off site and in the office.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a lot of responsibility. I was working on real client data projects very early on and completely one almost entirely independently. I think the level of responsibility was appropriate for an intern. For example, I was never left just to get on with it - there was always someone there for me to double check things with.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am a computer science student so a lot of the things I have been doing, especially in the data assurance team has been relevant to my degree. It has been really useful to see industry application of some of the programming languages and concepts I have been taught at university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was really friendly. No one has fixed desks - you just sit where there is space. This is good becuase it means you meet a variety of people and become more quickly integrated.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised. The whole recruitment process and internship ran very smoothly. Any questions or queries were quickly answered although I didn't personally experience any issues.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I would say the level of investment was high. We were given a large amount of training and coaching. Especially in the data team I recieved a lot of one on one coaching. There was also a full week of induction and training at the beginning of the internship.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are a large number of opportunities within the organisation because of the diverse range of roles. People are encouraged to try different things and develop new skills. A lot of interns are offered graduate jobs at the end of their placements.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, we all met at the induction event on the first week and quickly became a close group. I have also got on well with the other people in the teams I have been working in. Everyone involves you and is really helpful.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Bristol is quite expensive but there is student housing that you can rent over the summer months. There was a lot of socialising!

    3/5
