    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was certainly a great and memorable experience. Right from the induction week where we spent 3 nights in a hotel with all the interns to working in the office with different teams, all consisting of wonderful people.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued at the firm. I was treated as an employee rather than an intern.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was always someone there to ask about any queries I had, which was a lot of the times. But what was great that everyone was always ready to answer my questions. That pretty much summed up the firm for me. A place where people are always happy to help you.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were jobs which I was put on which were always busy and others which were less. But I always had or found something to do!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Lets just say that its true when they say that youre given real work with real clients during your internship with PwC, which certainly makes you feel valued.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I study economics so I dont think it would help a great amount. But ive certainly learnt some great excel and people skills which I will certainly apply in my time at university and after.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was always a good atmosphere in the office and the people certainly made sure it was.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was set up very well. It included an induction week in which we spent 3 nights in a hotel with all the other interns and then a 2 day office induction. All the jobs I was booked on were put on an internal system which I could access at any time. It showed me the time I was booked on for and who else was a part of that team. Also, from the very first day right till the very end, I had the support of my people manager and my buddy.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given the opportunity to work on different clients, both in the private and public sector, which also meant that for some I had to work away in those client offices. As an intern I was also invited to the end of year review meetings with all the assurance staff, including the partners and directors and that really showed how much the firm valued our development.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It is by far and definately the right firm I would like to persue a career with.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a great social scene. From bbqs to bowling and karaoke to bar crawls, we (interns) were a part of it all. At one time we ordered in pizza to the office!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Newcastle is a place you can certainly balance out your finances with ease. Definately recommend the Grainger market!

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I perhaps didnt take advantage of the nightlife here in Newcastle as much as I should have, but when I did, it was always a great night!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As an intern I was invited to play for PwC's football team which was a lot of fun and a great way to meet your colleagues.
