The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work in a professional environment surrounded by my peers who are experts and experienced in the career that i desire to take.
Colleagues were always willing to help and assist where ever help was required despite their busy schedules and many deadlines. There is a friendly atmosphere throughout the office.
Was given a lot of support! All of the staff were willing to put what they were doing on hold immediately to come over and assist me with whatever the task was, big or small. Very very helpful.
When receiving an initial project the work load was perfect but would slowly die down as the project progressed and i would become confused and stuck causing work to stop til i could find what the next step is to take. However, there is plenty to be done!
I was given a sufficient amount to make me feel i was making a contribution to the team but not too much or too little that i would panic or see my work as worthless. very good at keeping you in the loop and connected to the project.
The skills will help me throughout my whole degree. i am learning things during this placement that i am expected to learn during my third year (next year) of university. this will be a big help to my studies!!
The Company
Atmosphere was generally friendly and open. discussion while working often take place making it very inviting. Great atmosphere!
It is obvious there is no set structure to the placement and then i was given jobs where available to assist on various jobs. even though a feel of little organisation, it didn't affect the experience at all!
The first week was dedicated to training me on various software to prepare me for tasks that i may have to do throughout the placement. was very helpful and my time at BuroHappold run much smoother!
To be able to work for this company would be an absolute blessing and privilege. very good company, very good atmosphere with a very high skill level with attention to details.
The Culture
The team would often have meals, drinks, socials etc... allowing the team to get to know one another which was very helpful!
Cost of living and socialise was that of a normal student city. being on placement did not differ the costs to what it would be at any other time of year for me.
Don't really participate in much of the city night life although the area, Leeds, is of a very high standard.
There was a few here and there. It was always ensured that i was invited even if i couldn't make it.
