The Role
I found it a very challenging year, but looking back on it at the end I did appreciate it.
My colleagues helped me a lot throughout the entire process, I wouldn't have been able to cope without a select few who really supported me
Being in the Oxford Street store it is such a fast paced environment so it is really difficult to spend a lot of time on development, but I did get support when I really needed it
Crazy busy! It was good because every day would be different, but it was hectic, constantly having tasks given to you on top of everything else as well as dealing with the masses of customers
I felt like I was given huge responsibility, I was managing an entire section of a department on my own, liaising with buyers and merchandisers, managing a team of people, it was great exposure into the real working world. Nothing was set up for us to complete it was all 'live'
I have learnt a great deal regarding Management style and the way in which this can be implemented on the work environment, I think this will be beneficial to my degree.
The Company
My 'office' was a shop floor, so it really depended on the customer footfall or whether we had to give our teams some training to do, or if we had to start a big move as to the mood of the shop floor. I would always try and keep it positive to lift people's spirits.
The actual placement set up by head office was well organised. Our developments days we attended at Bracknell were great days, and helped up learn about other areas of the business whilst also letting off some steam.

Personally I chose not to continue my career with the partnership as I don't see myself within the retail sector. Nonetheless it is a fantastic place to work for.
The Culture
Unfortunately as we were spread around the country the only time we got to see one another was on our development days which was about 4 times throughout the placement.
I worked in central London so socialising was more expensive than most, but I still managed to go out! I lived at home so saved a lot of money there.
London!
The partnership has the Leisure benefits team who organise subsidised tickets and activities for all partners, there is a lot to choose from!
