The Role
I enjoyed being approached by different departments and being involved in every department on some level. I think this helped to cement which direction I want to take my career as well as showing me other opportunities within the field.
I was made to feel included and welcome by all colleagues, this made me feel very comfortable around the office and I felt that I could approach anyone for help if required
I felt very supported and felt comfortable to ask for help if and when needed
I never felt over whelmed but I was also never spare
In the last 2 weeks I was given considerable responsibility with aiding Jane Kenny on her property inspections to properties potentially impacted by the Northern Distributor Road. It was my role to ensure decent photographic evidence was taken and then on return to the office to organise and combine both Jane and my notes and my photos.
I think the skills and knowledge I have learnt will be invaluable in my MSc in Rural Estate Management as it has provided me with a foundation on which to build on
The Company
The atmosphere in the office has been welcoming and warm. I have been included in staff events such as the office summer outing which made me feel relaxed in the office
The last two weeks was more organised than my first two weeks as I was working on the Northern Distributor Road project which meant that I always had things to be getting on with.
Colleagues took the time and effort to talk to me and explain/teach me anything useful or connected to what I was doing. They also were happy to take the time to talk to me about any topics or questions I had about other topics.
My experience has really excited me with the prospect of being part of the Savills team. I aspire to work for Savills
The Culture
There were no other placement students in the office with me, however my work colleagues made me feel welcome and invited me on the office summer outing and a colleague's leaving drinks.
I found accommodation in the area very expensive
N/A
I joined the office on their summer outing. In addition to this I spent the weekends exploring the local area and attended the village (where I was staying) summer fete
