The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed working as an intern at JLL. I feel I gained a good understanding of what it would be like to work there in the future. Everyone in the team was excellent and I was able to attend a number of site visits, which gave me a real insight into property.
My colleagues always had work for me to get on with, which I was pleased about. I enjoyed being involved in various projects, working alongside other team members. They would always give me feedback on the work I produced. They also took me out for lunch/drinks occasionally which was good fun.
Feedback was always given to me after I finished a job/project. This was important because its nice to know that you're completely useful work for there rest of the team. If I had any questions/didn't know anything they were always willing and happy to help and explain.
I was busy pretty much everyday, and always asked for more work once I had finished my jobs. We also had several presentations and training sessions to attend which I found very interesting.
I was given quite a bit of responsibility, as various tasks needed to be completed by certain deadlines. Also I was asked to work on several important schedules that the whole team referred to on a regular basis.
Coming from a non-accredited degree background, I found the internship extremely useful for building up my knowledge in the property industry. I was able to learn new skills everyday that will prove to be useful in a graduate role. The presentation skills training session that is run by JLL is also very helpful particularly as it highlights key areas where you can improve.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great! Everyone was very friendly and there at lots of break-out areas/social areas where you are able to network with people from a number of different departments. People are very friendly and always willing to help.
The internship was very well organised, with a number of different activities and sessions going on every week. They also organised two social events for the interns to network between one another and also with other buddies and graduate surveyors.
We had a number of different training sessions such as the presentation techniques, which highlighted a number of things to avoid/do during a presentation. We also practiced during the session which allowed to realise the mistakes we were making prior to the official presentation.

They are very appealing particularly as they offer a lot of support for passing the APC and progressing in your career.
The Culture
The social scene is excellent. There was a triathlon whilst we were there and pretty much everyone went along and encouraged the colleagues that took part. The team sometimes goes out for drinks/lunch when there is time. There are a number of different sports teams to take part in which is also good.
As you well know, the cost of living in London is very high. However, if you happen to know someone with a spare room/sofa then its great. If no you are still paid for the internship which should cover living expenses in London for the duration of the internship.
Nightlife in London is very good but very expensive.
There are a number of different activities to keep you entertained in London.
