The Role
Very much so! There's a reason why I wanted to work for 3M and its because I knew ahead of time that it was an amazing company that not only treats its employees well but is also the world leader in innovation.
I was treated like an equal rather than an underling which was very nice
I was given enough support when needed, and also enough freedom to let me learn and grow on my own. It was a healthy amount of guidance.
Busy enough to want to finish this review quickly
I was making major decisions for product development and also was given the opportunity to lead a project
I learned many things in development as well as in manufacturing and I aim to do both in my life so it was an excellent first step into a larger world.
The Company
Fun mostly, everyone gets along fairly well. No one was ever too serious when it came to work to the point where it truly felt like ''just a job'', it was fun developing products and its nice when you're surrounded by other like minded curious people.
Typical placements are set up in a much more organized structure here, however I was hired as an extra resource to the lab and came in late and hence I wasn't trained the same as the other students in a structured manner. Mine was a bit more of a free flow, but it helped me learn things on my own and helped me develop more confidence in my work.
I was given the opportunity to attend many training courses which included LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt training which helped me lead a Six Sigma Green Belt Project.
