The Role
I found the year at ProspectSoft thoroughly enjoyable, this was aided by both enjoying the tasks I completed on a daily basis as well as getting along well with everyone in my team.
The account management team is a close knit group and I was always treated as a real member of staff, not just a placement student. The tasks I was given to complete were always important and you really do feel like you're playing a key part in the business.
ProspectSoft's placement has been around since the infancy of the company and a huge number of the full time employees are returning placement. Because of this, everyone - including management, are always happy to support and give guidance to you. At the start of the year we had a months training which really helps to bring you up to speed.
It's a bit of a cliche, but honestly no day at ProspectSoft is the same, and, as long as you're willing to take on responsibility, you'll always be busy. Whilst you will always be busy, you'll rarely be expected to work outside of working hours which is important for maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
I was given a varied number of tasks and responsibilities during my placement year, as long as you're willing to take on responsibility everyone at ProspectSoft will always be willing to give you increased responsibility.
My year at ProspectSoft has allowed me to develop a wide number of soft skills and a real insight to how businesses operate - something learning theories at University will never teach you.
The Company
ProspectSoft is a fairly young company and so are most of the employees. This makes for a fun office where you'll spend a lot of your time in fits of laughter.
As the placement scheme has been around for years, the company have the organisation of the placement really nailed down with all areas thought of and covered.
Whilst I didn't complete any format qualifications during my placement year, the company does invest in you as person through the amount of responsibility you are given.
Company Parties/Events
If you prove yourself to be a valued member of the team during your placement year they will try and find a role that suits you.
The Culture
Whilst I have lived at home during the placement year so haven't necessarily benefited from this, a number of the placements and full time staff live in Oxford where there is more opportunity for nights out. However there are social occasion throughout the year.
As I lived at home during the year I was able to keep my living costs to a minimum.
ProspectSoft is based in Stokenchurch which is a fairly typical quiet Village.
Again, if you live in Oxford during the year you'll likely find a greater number of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work.
