The Role
I quite enjoyed the placement and I would recommend it for anyone who is looking to take the first steps.
Besides the fact of being in a Sales role, I had plenty of interaction with Demand Planning and Finance, which made my network at work larger. In a overall picture, I guess I was considerably valued by everyone on those areas.
I got quite lucky in what refers to my line manager and my N+2, who were both really supportive and easy to work with.
My workload was really busy during the first 2 weeks of each month, with tight deadlines and presentations. Then it got quieter until the last days of the month when I had to work with month-end admin activities.
I was given some responsibilities but most of it had many stages of approval. Anyway, I think that involves not only placements and interns, but also the levels just above too.
I developed skills in excel and using data analysis tools, though the training received was lower compared to those on graduate scheme.
The Company
The atmosphere is quite friendly and laid back, though as in any BIG company you can notice some sort of pressure due to deadlines and presentations.
It was a bit hard to understand where exactly was I positioned and what was the aim of what I was doing because it was a new role. The tasks varied widely at the beginning. Must say that when I started, my line manager was really organized in trying to schedule inductions with everyone I was going to be involved with.
This question quite relates to a previous one.. I think I could have had more training (specifically comparing to the people in the graduate scheme)
