The Role
I have been really enjoying the experience as the internship is very involved and drops you straight into actual project work. The work is certainly going to be enjoyable if you love programming.
My department made me feel valued and I was included in all relevant meetings about the project I was working on which made it really feel like part of a team. We also all ate lunch together and such.
I was given as much support and guidance as I needed and I could always go and ask if I needed anything further, in addition to this all of my colleagues were approachable if for some reason my supervisor wasn't available.
Usually busy enough to keep me occupied throughout the whole day, there is never a shortage of work to be done.
Given as much responsibility as any other employee by the looks of things, was able to push my own code into the source control software once I was trained so there really wasn't very much difference, I was able to work independently and choose from the available tasks as I saw fit.
I have learnt a great deal about how to code in a professional environment and it has given me invaluable knowledge of source control tools.
The Company
The office was good fun and everyone was friendly.
Oftentimes I had to contact support as my computer accounts had not been set up properly but otherwise things went really well.
I was given source control training and a lot of time went into ensuring that I understood the project that I was working on.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
I think that the company is a great place to work and I would definitely consider it in the future.
The Culture
Everyone was friends but that was about as far as it went.
Travel was expensive from where I lived and there wasn't much socialising outside of the lunch breaks.
There wasn't any.
Plenty of opportunities through the sports and social club
