The Role
Really enjoying it so far! All the IMGWorks guys are amazing and the tasks I've been given have been both challenging and enjoyable.
I felt like I was positively contributing to the overall aims of the team
I wasn't given that much support which was both a blessing and a curse, It meant I could easily get on with my project and finish it as fast as I did. It did however mean that when I came across problems, I had to figure them out myself more meaning the overall integration of my project took longer. This probably wasn't actually a bad thing though as it gave me a much larger insight in the whole system.
During the first few days, I was extremely busy setting up my environment. Once I had received my project however, the workload balanced out and I was able to work at my own pace a bit more.
Not too much responsibility though I'm fine with that!
I've learnt some really useful things so far, including simulation techniques, state machine coding in VHDL and using a linux terminal environment.
The Company
Warming though quiet!
I was given a general gist of what I was supposed to achieve during my placement which was useful.
I haven't been trained formally though a lot of the stuff I learnt was from the internet.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Currently, I'd be happy to work here!
The Culture
Having been here last year, I already knew a few of the other interns which was great. We've already had a few outings together.
Its pretty expensive down here as opposed to Cheshire and Nottingham!
I know of no form of clubs in the local area... Me and my girlfriend went to a total dive in Hemel one night and haven't really returned since (lol. it has since changed hands.)
Sport and social club offer loads of events!
