    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at ProspectSoft. It has been the perfect mix of training, responsibility and opportunities. I can honestly say I am so grateful to have been able to spend 13 months learning and achieving here.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • ProspectSoft, being a family run company has a very friendly culture. Each member of the team looked out for me during my placement. Our hard work and achievements were also often mentioned in company meeting.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • During the first 6 months we were given very close support and guidance which was perfect when first starting out in a working environment. After the first 6 months we then had a bit more management over ourselves which was great to experience and built skills that will definitely be useful when returning to uni or starting a grad job.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The busyness of my role did vary throughout the year. My work load peaked around Christmas and steadied out throughout the year. If there were ever times that I felt too busy or wanted a new project, my managers were keen to make sure I was being pushed but wasn't struggling.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I still can't believe how much responsibility and experience I have gained at ProspectSoft. I completely managed all the social media channels and was given the go ahead to design and implement my own campaign ideas. This really helped build my confidence and I was later asked to even start a whole social media optimising service for our customers. I and have been able to experience consulting with customers in a professional environment.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The first month of your placement at ProspectSoft consists of training where you learn skills such as telemarketing and how to speak to customers. Before doing this I was nervous to even answer the phone so firstly I saw a massive improvement in my confidence. The efficiency of my work has improved greatly too which I will hopefully see impact my work back at university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There is a fun but also hard working atmosphere within the sales and marketing office.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • As ProspectSoft has been running its placement scheme for many years it is very well organised and structured.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a month of training by members of staff to begin with. After this we attended lots of training events such as Marketing Week Live and CommuniGator email marketing events. We were also asked in our appraisals if there was any further training you would like it other areas.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • With over half of placements returning to ProspectSoft future employment prospects are really good. You get to know what sort of role you are suited to and are able to adjust this if you choose to return.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes there was a nice group of us and we often met up outside of work.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Pretty reasonable pricing - although I rented in Reading which is a bit further from the common locations of Oxford and High Wycombe so can't really comment on rent prices.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As ProspectSoft is located in a village there isn't a specific night club however High Wycombe and Oxford are both close and have a great nightlife.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • ProspectSoft provided some really great social events from meals out to Battle Prom events and company BBQs.
