The Role
I have really enjoyed my intership as a whole! I have enjoyed it a lot more towards the end as I feel more comfortable in what I am doing and don't need to ask questions every 5 minutes.
I feel like I have been really valued by my colleagues they give you constant feedback on how you are working so you know what you are doing well and what you can improve on.
My manager has been really nice and helpful. He helped me to make my goals and advised me on the best ways to meet them.
Everyday I have been doing something different, I haven't been overloaded with work but they did throw me in the deep end pretty much since day one which has meant I've never really been bored.
During my internship I have been given different sections of the audit to complete by myself but then any issues or questions I had I would ask my lead to help me.
Throughout my internship I have learnt many different things. The best thing I have learnt is how to build a good rapport with the client.
The Company
Everyone I have spoken to in the office have been lovely and really helpful. The general atmosphere was fun but professional.
The internship was very organised, it was great that when we turned up on the first day we had laptops provided for us and all had schedules of what we would be doing. My only issue was that there was a bit of confusion as to who my manager was but that got sorted fairly quickly.
Grant Thornton has put lots towards my own personal training and development. I spent 2 days at Bradenham improving my presentation skills and also spent my first day in London meeting all my fellow interns and the CEO.
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing if I am offered a Graduate job I would definitly take it.
The Culture
To some extent there was a good social scene in that I went to two leaving do's, however some of my colleagues said that there used to be more socials in the past and they haven't happened much recently as people have been very busy.
I lived with my parents throughout my internship so wouldn't know the cost of living but the socialising aspect was fairly cheap.
The nightlife in Southampton is quite good there are quite a few good pubs and clubs within a 5/10 minute walk of the office.
There were quite a few opportunities to get involved with activities outside work such as the Grant Thornton football tournament, Golf, dinners and lots of other things.
