The Role
I did a great variety of tasks which meant I was exposed to many aspects of the audit process.
My people manager was excellent with informing me of things that needed completed and would always ask how I was getting on.
When out at clients most of the time I had work to do. Only on a few occasions was there nothing I could help with in the audit but since I was involved in an intern project and presenation, there was always something for me to work on.
I was with one client for 3 weeks of my internship so I was given responsibility of a section of the audit which was great.
I think the skills I have learnt here will greatly help when I return for my last year of my degree. This will also carry forward to once I have graduated and I am working towards my CA.
The Company
It was very welcoming and I felt comfortable as soon as I started my internship. the people are one of the best things about Grant Thornton.
Very well organised. I always knew who I was reporting to and where I was to be.
The induction day in London for all interns was very good and also our trip down to Grant Thornton's training grounds in High Wicombe included fantastic presentation training. A highlight of my internship.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Very good wmployment prospets.
The Culture
Definitely. Our multiple trips down to London allowed interns from the same offices and with all other offices to mix which was great. Also, within the Glasgow office there was loads of socials n Friday nights after work including a pub quiz and a races night.
I already live in the same city as my internship and lived close enough to walk so it didn't really affect my cost of living.
Glasgow has a fantastic nightlife including bars and restaurants.
Yes loads! Quizess and after work drinks almost every week!
