    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship. The weeks were very varied and there was always lots to take part in. During the working weeks I was heavily involved in training and working on important client work, and I had two trips to Bradenham Manor (Grant Thornton's training facility), once for a 2 day training course and once for the two day presentation skills workshop. We also went to Ascot Racecourse for an away day.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was always given work to do and never made to feel like a hindrance. Everyone was very helpful in being patient and showing me how to do things. The culture of the firm is great in this respect.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Management were always keen to show me how to do things, and involve me in client meetings/business development projects. We were also paired with two associates who would ensure we were ok at all times.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was never so rushed off my feet that I couldn't stick to the 0900-1730, but I always had things to do and was never sat twiddling my thumbs.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was 'let loose' on client work with full support and guidance. The structured review system means that any mistakes are rectified, so I was given the 'full experience'.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was given a two day workshop in presentation skills which is very confidence building. I also learned a lot about Global Mobility Services/Tax/Social Security.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Always really nice. There's no real hierarchy of seating and offices. Everything is open plan and everyone is generally in a good mood.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We received a timetable of events and this was broadly stuck to. I always knew where I was meant to be, when, and what I had to do.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company spent a lot of money on all of the training, away days, trips to Bradenham Manor etc.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The internship is structured with a view to recruit you, with you taking part in a presentation at the end to determine your employability.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Fellow placement students were out most nights, colleagues were always up for a pint.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It's London! I was fortunate enough to have my student flat available to me, a ten minute walk away. However, I still felt the sting of £5 pints.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The upside of being in London is that there's always stuff to do!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • So much to do! There was a football tournament, charity abseiling events, all sorts!

    5/5
