The Role
Internship was very enjoyable, everyone in the IAS group was very helpful and friendly. There were very useful opportunities to have 1 on 1 chats with Directors and Managers. There were plenty of out of work events for networking and socialising.
I did feel that employees were approachable and friendly, and did try to make you part of the team. However I did feel that I was pushing for work sometimes, and the work was fairly simple compared to the work I would imagine a graduate to be doing.
My supervisor was fairly helpful, but I saw that most of the work I got was through asking around the office. They did give me a good insight into how the first few years of Deloitte might be like, which was useful.
Depended on the day, and how much you asked around. There were some days where work was very limited, but other days if you asked enough you would get work to last you the day. There was a good balance between general work and client meetings and briefings etc.
There was a fair amount of responsibility, but I wouldn't say that I was given much opportunity to become a valued member in a project. I would have liked to have been given more challenging work in which I was adding some value to the company.
I definitely feel that the internship helped me in reinforcing my computer skills, particularly Excel. It also gave me an invaluable opportunity to communicate with people in a business environment, and helped me get into a business mind-set.
The Company
My office was fairly standard, the people were very friendly and approachable. The atmosphere was relaxed. I didn't however, really feel like there was a team spirit within the office, would have liked to seen some group lunch breaks or events organised, to get to know people.
I feel the general structure of the internship was good, the first few days allowed us to settle in well into a working environment and there was no real pressure. There were plenty of opportunities set out for me to experience the work within Deloitte, from partner meetings to client briefings. However, I did feel at some points I was left with little to do and would struggle to find work for periods of the day. There were a few online resources and training guides to do to pass the time, but I felt that they could be improved, and made more interactive for interns. I realised that what you make of the internship at Deloitte is really up to you, you have to make the effort to ask around and meet new people, and find work in the process.
I felt there was a good amount of training. You did learn a lot on the job, but there were also various skills sessions throughout the placement which added to the experience, like interview skills etc., and were very useful.

Working from home
I feel that Deloitte would offer an excellent place to start a career in financial services. The grad role offers many benefits, like the opportunity to do the ACA qualification etc. It seemed like there was a genuine ethic of promoting from within, which is extremely encouraging. I feel like there would be a lot of contact with major clients, and a lot of prospects to further your career opportunities.
The Culture
People within my scheme were all very friendly, I would generally take lunch breaks with them and we would go for drinks on occasion.
Fairly expensive but that is to be expected in London.
Lots of good places to go in London.
Yes, there were many opportunities to go out with the intake. Company drinks and dinners were organised.
