The Role
It was a fantastic experience, both from a professional and a social point of view. I got a great insight into what consultants at Deloitte actually do and had real responsibility whilst on the job. But in addition, we had a large number of social events organised every week, where it was possible to make great friendships with fellow inters and also to interact with people from the firm in a more informal setting.
Everyone I've interacted with made me feel like a valued member of the team, not just as an intern; they were friendly and helpful.
While certain tasks were somewhat unclear in terms of how/what to do, further guidance was always available whenever a job was confusing.
I was lucky as I was put on a very large project, where I had the opportunity to rotate around the different divisions of the project. This way I always had new things to learn but also tasks to help out with.
The level of responsibility increased as I got more familiar with the project. Initially it was more about learning and trying to grasp the project, however later on I was given more responsibility.
I gained some really useful skills during my internship, but the one I believe will assist me most in my degree studies was meeting deadlines. At university we often have weeks to compete certain tasks, however in a professional environment deadlines can be much more tight.
The Company
I was mostly based on client site rather than the head office, which meant that the atmosphere was more serious, however colleagues were still always friendly and available to answer any questions I had.
The overall organisation of the internship was very good. Events always ran on time and everything was smooth from a logistical perspective too.
We were taken to workshops and presentations to aid useful skills such as team working and presentation skills.

I really enjoyed my time at the firm and the graduate programme seems very appealing.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene among the consulting interns, we had regular after work drinks and other fun events such as laser tag.
Cost of living and socialising was relatively expensive but normal for London.
I worked in central London so there were many options whatever you wanted.
There were some opportunities to get involved.
