About You
The insight day was a good opportunity to understand the energy challenge Centrica face.
I believe ones value is felt when there is an interaction between the company and the individual, in that case you have to actively engage with staff. There were over 40 other students, and a total of 7 staff. Staff were welcoming, although you have the make the initiative yourself.
Support and guidance was provided as per our questions. Questions could be focused on applying or interview experiences and training received at Centrica.
The information I received helped me better place the challenges facing the Oil and gas industry, although very little was helpful for assisting in my degree.
The Company
This was the first insight day conducted by Centrica, so staff were learning along the way. The day was well structured, focusing in one particular room for all activities.
General atmosphere was fun and exciting, plenty of other university students to chat with, and plenty of engaging activities to participate in.
This was very much a group insight day that showed the inner workings of Centrica to a large crowd, it was less personal due to the large number of students. The development I received was the CV training provided at the end, that helped clarify do's/donts when applying.
The individuals on the graduate scheme helped clarify their experiences and efforts made to adapt from university life to working full time, although a small sample of graduates from limited business streams were available.
The individuals on the graduate scheme were open about their understanding of company culture and were friendly enough for a chat. The insight day helped me better understand the company culture.
I was confident on my decision for a particular business stream and which role I would have liked to work in. The content of the day helped clarify what roles and responsibilities are applicable for the various other roles within the company.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses.
There were opportunities to chat with staff, although the variety of graduates was limited, non-so from the technical side of the company.
Chance for a chat before the event start and during lunch.
