About You
It was a good insight as we were given a general overview of the organisation, the application process, opportunities available, and we met current graduates. We also visited the Museum, which was interesting, however as it is free admission and open to the public this is something we could have done in our own time.
Graduates that I met spoke of many learning opportunities, support for further study, as well as the opportunity to go on secondments to other organisations, so by all accounts the Bank of England is a organisation that does value and care its staff.
We received information about working at the Bank from current graduates, as well as application details and tips from the recruitment team.
We received specific information on the application process and the skills required at the Bank which is something to think about when participating in future activities such as societies.
The Company
The insight day was well structured with an email sent out prior to the day stating the itinerary. The Insight Day followed the itinerary accurately and we left on time.
The Insight Day was relaxed with students talking to each other and student recruitment throughout the day. Lunch was a good opportunity to talk to current graduates who were very pleasant.
As the event was only one day there was little chance for students to receive training.
Students networked with current graduates over lunch and after lunch there was also a Q and A with graduates which gave students a thorough understanding of the roles available at the organisation.
Speaking to current graduates gave students a detailed overview of the company culture. The Bank of England appears a relaxed and friendly place to work, especially when compared to other financial institutions.
Following the Insight Day, I would definitely like to complete a internship at the Bank, which will give me an even greater insight into the organisation.
Everything Else
Reimbursed travel expenses up to £30.
Students met current graduates over lunch and during a Q and A after lunch.
Students spoke to current graduates for around 45 minutes at lunch and the Q and A after lunch lasted for approximately 45 minutes.
Current graduates briefly spoke about sports clubs that they take part in at the Bank.
Yes. A well structured day which provided good information.
