The Role
Absolutely loved it. Was given plenty of work to do but not so much that I felt completely overwhelmed. Everyone I worked with was very friendly and welcoming.
On one occasion I was told that they wouldn't have been able to meet the deadline without me. I was jev hanging around waiting for something to do. They could always find me something useful once I had finished what I was doing. Was never just 'getting the coffees' or anyth No like that!
After every job I was on I was given feedback. The job that I needed to do was always clearly explained to me and I never felt like I could never ask if I was unsure.
I was never bored hanging around but I wasn't completely swamped either. I did normally work till past half 5 every day but that was down to me choosing to rather than being asked to.
I was given a lot of responsibility in the sense that there wasn't.t someone looking over my shoulder every few minuets. I also had to interact with clients personally and was trusted enough that I didn't have to be with someone all the time.
I gained invaluable experience of audit work. By the end of my placement I could use the necessary programs with a good level of proficiency. The placement will definitely prove useful for my future career.
The Company
As I was doing audit work I was out of the office quite a lot at client sites. However when I was in the office there was always a friendly buzz. Everyone in my department had a good sense of humour.
I was kept very well informed of what was going on and never felt unsure of what or where I was meant to be going. Having a work laptop meant I could check my emails in the evening before I went to work the next day.
I felt that there was a lot of time that was invested in me during the course of the application process and the internship. I received a lot of on the job training by managers and graduates.
Subsidised Canteen
I was offer rede a place on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
There were several socials that were organised and all the other interns were friendly and outgoing. On the last day the interns and the graduates met up for drinks after work.
Inner city Birmingham isn't the cheapest for drinks but I was living at home and the internship was payed so I could afford it.
Birmingham has an excellent nightlife with lots of bars and clubs!
We had several socials including a pizza making evening at pizza express.
