The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement with Deloitte. The exposure to clients has been a hugely contributing factor to the success of my placement. The company allow you to travel to client sites and work with the clients to the same level that graduates and field managers are doing on a daily basis.
My placement within audit and Deloitte was heavily based around working as part of a team and within this team I felt as though I was exceptionally valued and contributed massively to them. The team spirit made my weeks with Deloitte much more enjoyable and easier.
The strong relationships I built within the team allowed me the confidence to constantly seek support where necessary. Further to this, the team would constantly check my progress and ensure I was comfortable with the work I had been set.
The days on the internship can be very busy but are also very manageable. The team I worked within had no expectations of me to complete work quickly and were patient with my progress. As a result of this, it was easy to concentrate on getting work done correctly without worrying about having too much to do. However, once a piece of work was complete, there was always something else to start working on.
The responsibility I was given was a hugely surprising factor for myself, however it contributed to how much I enjoyed the placement. You are given the same exposure as a graduate is given when fully employed and you are set the same work as they are too. This level of responsibility was exactly what was needed for this type of placement.
The placement focused on the basics of the job but concentrated more on interpersonal skills and team working abilities. All the skills I have learned and improved throughout the placement are transferable back to studying and beyond to further employment.
The Company
The atmosphere was really enjoyable. The team brought a relaxed atmosphere that was fun to be involved in but also made sure there was a serious enough ethic to ensure work was complete to a good quality.
The organisation of the placement was excellent with constant email updates and contact off field managers to ensure you were kept up to date.
The firm invested a lot of time and money into the investment of not just myself but seemingly all the other interns that I had spoke to.

Future employment within the firm is very appealing as you are given the opportunity to interview for a permanent graduate position. On the basis of the internship and the way the company has treated us, I would say future employment with the firm would be extremely appealing.
The Culture
The social scene was excellent amongst the company. The first two days of the placement was a two day event that focused on the social aspect of the firm by giving the interns the ability to meet each other and some of the graduates. There was also a social hosted amongst my office and service line which the graduates were keen to get involved with too.
The area I worked in was local to my family home so I was already used to the cost of living and socialising within this area.
The office I worked from was central Manchester which has an amazing nightlife and social scene to get involved with after work.
Apart from the social activities, then no, but I'm sure there would be if you were there for a longer period of time.
