The Role
The work was interesting and I was given a lot of responsibility once I was settled in, but there wasn't enough work and many things outside of my department were poorly planned.
I found that my colleagues valued my help and I was often called upon to help the more experience members of staff.
I had meetings with my mentor and and manager monthly to being with and once a settled in they were about once every 3 months.
To start with I was quite busy, but as the placement went on another engineer was hired and the work was spread thin, so I had to find my own work to do.
I was trusted to set-up and run the 'flagship' test the department conducted. By the end of my placement I was authorised to sign off pretty much all the tests ran in the department.
I have gained extensive experience applying the knowledge I gained from University and have also gained mew skills not covered on my course. I am hoping this understanding will carry over back into my studies.
The Company
The office was very light hearted and everyone was able to get down to work when required, but also were able to have a laugh and keep moral high.
There lacked a fixed structure and at times I was very much working things out for myself, often having to ask for work.
I went on a few courses from external companies, mostly to do with health and safety, but also attended other internal training courses for personal development and on the job skills.

Healthcare/Dental
There was a lot of uncertainty with jobs towards the end of my placement and I had an extension to my placement which was taken away 3 weeks before I finished. I would think carefully about job security if I went back as a graduate.
The Culture
a few of my fellow placement students of which there was 12, had similar interests.
The company put us in touch with a local landlord who was reasonable with prices.
Not the best place to go out for a night.
The company did have a sports and social club and would pay half the cost of any activity if 10 or more employees attended. Outside of this we arranged a few things like going Karting.
