The Role
Really enjoyed my time at Grant Thornton. Worked with such a lovely team and felt that I contributed to the client work,
Very much so. I was given lots of opportunities to work with clients in both advisory and compliance.
My manager wasn't in the same office as me too often throughout my internship, however she did contact me on the majority of the days. Although my "buddy" wasn't present throughout my time, I felt supported by everyone in the office.
Busy - I like the fact that we were given project to work on throughout our internship so we had work to do when not specifically working for the office.
I got to help prepare multiple tax comps for clients and was given the opportunity to start them myself rather than just watch someone do them. Allowed to attend multiple client meetings.
I imagine not much help for my degree. But if I do get a job with the company it means I have a head start when I begin.
The Company
Very friendly and welcoming. I could approach and talk to everyone - from my peers to the partners. Quite a hard working atmosphere yet still relaxed and friendly.
Very well organised. Had multiple introduction events to help settle me in. Had multiple conversations part way through the internship to check everything was going well.
Had my own desk and laptop? Not much actual training time - more like learn as you go.
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Very much so!
The Culture
Lots of events to begin with but fizzled out near the end. However it was easy to keep in contact with each other. Enjoyed the training at Bradenham to see other interns I hadn't seen in a while.
I worked in London so expensive. However I study in London so I'm used to the cost.
London has brilliant nightlife.
It was left to ourselves to arrange out of work activites. However I did attend the annual football tournament which was a lot of fun! Some of the office would go for post work drinks towards the end of the week.
