The Role
IBM is a great company to work for. It has loads of opportunities to offer and the foundation program is the best place to begin. They offer a great work life balance and an awesome giveback scheme.
Since IBM is such a big corporation, people would think it would be hard to make changes or create new systems. However, interns actually work with a team or an account and are also in charge of their own projects. The team prefer open minded people and also value opinion. Throughout the year, I have taken up many responsibilities and been able to make processes more efficient with the support of my team.
All my colleagues have provided a lot of support and guidance for all major tasks and have gone beyond the call of duty to make my year memorable. You have a task manager for your day to day responsibilities as well as an Early Professional Manager who makes sure you make the most of your year.
This would depend on what kind of role you chose. Finance roles usually have busy periods during Month or Quarter End. A business role like mine varied depending on the tasks I was involved in but you have weekly one to one meetings with your task manager to discuss work load and general responsibilities.
IBM being a huge corporation it is hard to make a big impact or get a lot of responsibility but you are still working with a lot of confidential data and the work you do is valued a lot.
Overall, IBM has been a great place to work. The amount of knowledge and experience gained is invaluable.
The Company
The office is very busy and a great place to Network. Since there are many departments at IBM, you get to interact with people with different experiences and also get many shadow opportunities.
The foundation scheme is very well organised scheme which offers a lot of exposure in the corporate world as well as providing the knowledge to excel in Life.
IBM hosts many education sessions and encourages skills workshops. They also have a Think40 program which mandates employees to complete 40 hours of education.
