    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Was a very enjoyable scheme,

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Due in large part to the team I was in being extremely busy, they were often able to delegate real and important tasks to myself and another vacation scheme student. Supervisors subsequently ensured they showed you how your work fitted within the big picture of a transaction for example which really gave you an idea of your value. They were quick to thank you for your work, no matter how small, too.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The structured guidance of both a trainee "buddy" and associate "supervisor" works really well in giving you an outlet for all questions you may have (both directly task based and in terms of career choice) whilst for the main, the team was more than willing to explain things in assisting with your development. Similarly, the Grad Rec team are amazing in ensuring you settle in well and are receiving adequate work during your time at the firm.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Whilst I personally have chosen not to pursue a career in commercial law, the experience and exposure to such a challenging working environment and the relevant skills will stand me in good stead no doubt.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Having participated in other vacation schemes, I can say this was by well and by far the most structured and carefully thought out scheme I've undertaken. The extra time spent on things like training is invaluable and the stand-alone project you do alongside your department work is a great addition in getting to know the rest of the scheme students as well as mitigating against any quiet periods in your work load.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There are plenty of opportunities for socials and the entire firm understands the importance of the scheme so really go out of their way to ensure you have a good time and feel welcomed.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There are numerous skills training sessions which ensure you are able to be productive whilst at the firm as well as networking skills building to take forward.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The exposure to work is certainly a fair reflection and the candid and open approach of the fee-earners really does give you a feel for the role, warts and all.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Hugely valuable in noting quite how their values and culture translate into practice for better or worse!

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Personally, hugely invaluable albeit in helping me decide on an alternative career path. Whilst Nabarro were fantastic across the board, they ensure you see enough of "reality" to make sure this is the right choice for you.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • You're paid £275 weekly which is comparable with most firms of a similar size and scope.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Trainees and assosciates regularly attended social events whilst the degree of partner exposure was actually a very pleasant surprise. Whilst a partner dinner sounds daunting, the people at Nabarro are brilliant and having exposure to these individuals from across the firm is brilliant.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Varied and lively.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • The firm were keen to emphasise how it tries to promote well being and work-life balance.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • As good a firm and scheme as you're likely to come across in my opinion.
