    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Lovely team of people, actual job role not just for placement student - very challenging and I have learnt alot from this both retail related skills and personal transferable skills i can use in the future.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I managed to become a valuable member of the team once i had earned this and showed i was capable. A greater salary would have made me feel more valuable as worked as hard and harder in some cases as other collegues but earned very little.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Very approachable manager when had queries or needed guidance. Had a good balance of giving me my own independence and being there to help when needed.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most days were very busy but was good for time management skills however at times could be stressful but gave me a realistic head office situations.

  • I was given own departments to control as well as individual projects to work on.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Both commerical awareness and personal skills such as decision making, team working and confidence building will be used forever!

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The team i worked with were very fun, relaxed and could take a joke creating a great atmosphere. This was not the case across the whole office.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Basics were availiable and assessment day was very organised. Maybe greater training options.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Overall traning is limited and placement students do not recieve any added opportunties. Induction week was organised and well thought through.

  • Love the job and people but salary and career progression seem limited.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We made the effort to meet up a couple of times throughout the year but time went very quickly!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Due to communting to work my salary mainly went on petrol but there was a strong socialising aspect with the BM team. george xmas party was also very good.

  • Average but the people made it fun!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I joined the George netball team which was good way to get to know everyone and do some excercise.
