The Role
Lovely team of people, actual job role not just for placement student - very challenging and I have learnt alot from this both retail related skills and personal transferable skills i can use in the future.
I managed to become a valuable member of the team once i had earned this and showed i was capable. A greater salary would have made me feel more valuable as worked as hard and harder in some cases as other collegues but earned very little.
Very approachable manager when had queries or needed guidance. Had a good balance of giving me my own independence and being there to help when needed.
Most days were very busy but was good for time management skills however at times could be stressful but gave me a realistic head office situations.
I was given own departments to control as well as individual projects to work on.
Both commerical awareness and personal skills such as decision making, team working and confidence building will be used forever!
The Company
The team i worked with were very fun, relaxed and could take a joke creating a great atmosphere. This was not the case across the whole office.
Basics were availiable and assessment day was very organised. Maybe greater training options.
Overall traning is limited and placement students do not recieve any added opportunties. Induction week was organised and well thought through.
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Love the job and people but salary and career progression seem limited.
The Culture
We made the effort to meet up a couple of times throughout the year but time went very quickly!
Due to communting to work my salary mainly went on petrol but there was a strong socialising aspect with the BM team. george xmas party was also very good.
Average but the people made it fun!
I joined the George netball team which was good way to get to know everyone and do some excercise.
