The Role
A fantastic experience that provided a great insight into the life of a lawyer and the firm itself.
All of the staff took the time to get to know you, even though you're only around for two weeks! No one is too busy to say hello or to answer any questions you may have.
"There are no stupid questions" - the first bit of advice I was given. This put my mind at ease as I had not done a law degree or GDL.
There are several presentations / group tasks that need to be attended to every day, as well as work from your department so there is never long enough to be bored.
You're only there for two weeks so you're not exactly running the shop! I was lucky enough to assist in drafting several contracts.
The experience of working for the firm before I started my training contract was invaluable. I didn't realise how useful my vacation scheme had been until I started training at the firm two years later!
The Company
There was a lot of work being done and everyone was very friendly.
Well organised and effeciently run by Graduate Recruitment. The team were very approachable if there were any problems or concerns.
The firm was fantastic from the moment I attended the assessment centre to the present day. I performed very well in all areas except one at my assessment centre, and one of the Graduate Recruitment team gave up their lunch break to talk me through things I could do to improve before my vacation scheme. Committing to the development of someone who has not accepted a job with you, and could even be applying to work elsewhere is a risky strategy - but it obviously worked as I accepted a training contract with them!

Company Parties/Events
I accepted a training contract with the firm, and turned down another firm that I did a vacation scheme with. And I am working with several people who were also on my vacation scheme.
The Culture
There were several events organsied by the firm (with free food and drink) and we arranged a few evenings out of our own.
It's the City so it's not cheap, but you could have plenty of fun attending only the free organised events.
Lots of great bars, restaurants and clubs - it's London!
It's a two week work experience, so there isn't a great chance to get involved in activities outside of work.
