The Role
It was a very useful insight into a successful law firm.
I was really made to feel that the work I was carrying out was important and that I had done really well!
A lovely trainee looked after me for the entirety of the two week placement.
My placement was at the worst point of the recession so considering this I was given plenty of work.
Some of my tasks were "mock" tasks to give me an insight into the kind of tasks I could expect to carry out as a trainee with the firm. Some pieces of work however, were actually used and I was able to attend a client meeting which related to a piece of work I had done!
I was able to talk about my placement and the skills I learnt in an interview where I was given a training contract!
The Company
Really friendly!
A nice mix of social events and presentations throughout the two week period. I only saw one area of the law firm though so a longer scheme where you experienced more than one seat would be good.
Partners and associates sat down and gave me their time - I was really made to feel part of the team.

Company Parties/Events
I was offered a job with the firm's Birmingham office, however I ultimately chose a firm in London. They seem to offer lots of vac schemers jobs.
The Culture
Really fun fortnight! All the vac schemers really bonded.
Reasonable.
Birmingham has a good selection of bars and clubs.
Yes! Even the vac schemers were offered chances to attend sports events during the two weeks!
