The Role
It was a very well structured placement that was full of useful insight, challenging work tasks and site visits.
The team was very welcoming which allowed me to settle in very quickly.
I was given support and advice whenever I needed help, but equally I was encouraged to think for my self and work through any problems.
I was never bored, I was always involved with numerous tasks and projects, this range from reading and understanding reports to designing details on CAD.
The responsibility that I was given increased as the placement went on, in my final week I was involved with designing details on CAD for a client.
The things I have learned during this placement have been so valuable. I feel more confident in understanding the role that a Building Surveyor plays, I have extended my building pathology knowledge and most importantly I have gained a valuable insight into communicating and dealing with a client.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very productive, there was never a moment when I didn't feel comfortable asking for help. Everyone was extremely welcoming which allowed me to settle into the office very quickly.
The placement was very well structured, there wasn't a moment where I wasn't learning something related to what I am studying, all the work I did was related to current project work.
I felt very valued at Savills, there was various one on one opportunity's for me to ask questions, I also received valuable feedback on the work that I was involved with.

My placement at Savills was fantastic, I has the opportunity to learn new things and challenge myself, It also gave me the opportunity to assist in current project work. I hope to gain a full time position here when I graduate!
The Culture
There was various opportunities to catch up with others who were undertaking placements at Savills, it was a great chance to talk about our experiences and gain an insight into different departments within the business.
I personally travelled in Birmingham which was relatively cheap, and the cost of socialising was reasonable.
The night life was very vibrant, there was always an opportunity to catch up with colleagues or others who worked in the same profession.
I was lucky enough to be involved with the staff football team. I took part in two tournaments during my placement, one of which we almost won!
