The Role
I enjoyed the fact that, all the negative perceptions I had were eraddicated, in the first coupld weeks. It really is the people that you work with that make your experience worthwhile; Barclays really is that place.
Everyone is learning soemthing new right now in Banking. With all the changes, I don't feel scared to ask questions or feel worried because I don't know what an accronym is referring to; becasue most people in the team don't know either! I feel equall and proud that I am given tasks that anyone else would do on the team to.
Lots of support is provided with a - Your buddy, who has been in your shoes before and therefore completly understands and can relate. - Your line manager, who is very understanding and patient but makes you feel supported and part of the team.
Varies from task to task, but you really need to ask; if you don't ask you don't get. But at the same time, people on your team have been here much longer than you, dealing with work that will take longer to explain than do themselves. Therefore, you sometimes have to ask others within the division for work.
You do get a fair amount as, you have objectives that you must meet along with, good impressions that must be set with key stakeholders. Also, completeing tasks efficently and accurately but, making sure you fully understand it and what you take away from it is the key.
I have graduated and coming from university to the corporate world was a little terrifying. However, I still aim to start my Chartered Financial Analyst qualification as, I have learnt perseverence is key. It is hard but, after university and half my internship gone thus far, I treat hurdles like these as a challenge rather than a barrier.
The Company
Changes from one area to the next however, my section of the floor is chilled and fun also. Lots of interesting people to meet and conversation to make.
I think it is good as, I am doing small tasks but each within their own right help me understand the bigger picture
