The Role
Stimulating and educational placement. Hard work but enjoyable!
Felt like part of the overall project and encouraged to attend all meetings and contribute ideas.
Very supportive and provide guidance throughout the whole year. Particularly supportive of university deadlines and project write up.
Kept busy, never ran out of things to do!
Responsible for designing own experiments, trusted to get my work done on time and set up meetings without constant guidance.
I have developed excellent communication skills. I am now confident to present and justify my decisions in front of groups of people. I was taught lab and data analysis skills that will benefit my final year of university, in particular my final year studies. The skills I have learned in this placement will benefit me in future jobs.
The Company
The office environment was quite quiet and focussed. However all staff approachable and friendly.
Very well organised. Two week training at beginning into basic lab techniques. Structured with supervisor, regular meetings to measure progress.
Company sent me on flow cytometry training courses, visits to clinical units to understand clinical trials, elearnings.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Unlikely to return without entry on to graduate scheme or without completing a phd.
The Culture
Good community of students to go on nights out, day trips etc. Staff always willing to join in on events.
Cost of living average for south east of England. Rent £1000 per month for 3 bedroom house. Socialising more expensive than average.
Not good.
There is not much to do in Stevenage. Activities outside of work are limited.
