The Role
Really enjoyed the internship. Gained a real insight into the working of C&W and would love to return.
When I had work to do, I really did feel that I was being helpful to my colleagues. However there were times, understandly, where I was given less work and in these instances I did feel a bit of a burden.
Although thrown in at the deep end by my supervisor in terms of work, I did feel supported and knew that my colleagues around me were able and willing to help. When completing work for more senior colleagues I was conscious of their lack of time to explain theories etc fully so sought advice from graduates etc.
I was busy most of the time, but found that as the internship progressed I did have more free time. When i was busy, my jobs were worthwhile instead of just doing admin.
Most of the work I completed was done with minimal supervision. Obviously when writing emails to clients my team did check over everything before it was sent out. I produced a client presentation with minimal supervision and felt that I was given a fair amount of responsibility.
As a non-cog, i has no training prior to the internship aside from my own research. However after my time at C&W I feel very confident going into studying for a masters degree. Basic skills that I was not yet accustomed to such as HoTs, zoning and brokerage were explained fully to me. My team also encouraged me to contact them throughout my time at University if I need assistance which was very kind.
The Company
My team was very inviting, making me feel instantly settled. The whole atmosphere, although corporate, was relaxed.
Very well organised. The graduate HR team (Charlotte and Kiran) did a great job placing candidates in roles best suited to them. The whole process from application to working there was seamless.
The team invested a lot of time into training my initially. On the internship programme, we were given presentation skills training which greatly improved our group project outcome.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
The prospect of working for C&W as a graduate is very appealing, especially after spending time with the current graduates finding out about their work etc. The company is hard working and friendly, with plenty of social activities for the whole organisation. Following the internship, C&W will let us know whether we will be taken on as a graduate. This area is slightly uncertain as the merger is putting a hold on most things.
The Culture
Other interns were very sociable and friendly, going to softball games and drinks after work. C&W organised a leaving social which was a great way to say bye/thank you.
Central london, pretty pricy. Although C&W do pay you for the time you are there, it does go quite quickly due to the socialising!
Good nightlife, plenty of bars around work
Loads of sporting opportunities with various teams. Interns played softball vs the grads as well as different property companies.
