The Role
8- The opportunities Grant Thornton gave me were extensive. My People Manager arranged so many insights into other service lines and I really enjoyed the varied work I got to do.
10- I felt very valued especially towards the end of my internship. I got very positive feedback and many of my colleagues who I did work for thanked me for the work I had done for them and gave me credit when due.
10- My People Manager was extremely supportive. She checked in regularly with me to see how I was finding the internship as well as ensuring I had work to do. She answered all my questions and did things for me without even me asking her such as asking colleagues to give me feedback.
8-The first two weeks were on/off busy but the last four weeks were busy. I always had work to be getting on with but at one time, it all built up and I felt under pressure.
8-Although all my work was reviewed, I felt I was given responsibility to make sure the tasks were done. I was left to get on with the work and hand something of quality in.
10- The presentation workshop Grant Thornton offered me was invaluable. I feel so much more confident with public speaking. Moreover, I am more familiar with financial terms and having been to client meetings, I know how I should behave.
The Company
8- There was definitely a relaxed atmosphere at the office. When there was a heatwave, we were able to dress casually. We had cake Fridays and my colleagues had a laugh together. I really enjoyed being in the office.
10- I thought my placement was very well set up (which was all down to my People Manager). She set up meetings with other service lines and the Bradenham course helped break my placement up too. It has run very smoothly and I feel I have experienced everything I wanted to.
10- I feel that my buddy invested a lot of time in training me up on the software, as did some of the other associates. They took the time to explain financial terms to me which was great. I really wanted to be able to use my language skills so one of the associates found some documents in French for me. Even though I didn't use my skills extensively, I thought it was a nice gesture.
8- There is a 50/50 chance of me getting a job with them. So far my feedback has been positive, so I am feeling very hopeful.
The Culture
6-I didn't get a chance to hang out with my fellow interns as much as I would have liked to only because we were in two separate offices. However, we did keep in contact via telephone, instant messaging. I was invited out to drinks etc but I think it could have been a little better.
6- I stayed with my parents during the internship so cost was not a probelm. However, the food outlets near work were really pricey.
8- There were some bars and clubs but I'm not much of a party animal.
7- There were fundraising activities and football tournaments so I would say yes.
