The Role
Very enjoyable placement, I learned many new skills and felt very comfortable in the working environment
I felt like a productive member of the team and felt included in the social activities
I was supported really well by those around me. Any questions that I had were answered quickly and satisfactorily
I was busy nearly all the time but not to the extent where I felt under pressure or stressed. There were consistently new projects to be involved in when others where completed
I was given just the right amount of responsibility to the point where I had my job and I did not feel overwhelmed but had plenty to get along with.
I have gained a much greater understanding of the iterative process between engineering and architecture and how the two work together to create complex projects. This I will be able to take forwards into any future career
The Company
Enjoyable and professional, Everyone was good-natured and friendly. focused on work but in no way oppressive
Seamless, No problems whatsoever
They had plenty of CPD and training events to attend If I had asked for more I am sure it would have been given
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
I would love to come back and work at Buro Happold. The company and culture of the place impressed me greatly. I was lucky enough to sit in on an 18 month review of the companies working practices during the placement and what was clear was the emphasis on quality rather than quantity of work and the commitment to challenging and interesting projects. I have a great deal of respect for a company that challenges itself and it's employees.
The Culture
Lots of sporting activities and social events I wish I could have been around longer to get involved in more.
Pretty pricey for pubs and bars but sporting activities were cheap
Bath has decent pubs and bars and plenty to do. Bristol is a short train ride away also if you want more to do
More activities than I had time for. If I was around longer I would love to get involved in more.
