    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I felt it was really rewarding

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued by most colleagues and some made a real effort to make other employees value the students more.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had weekly meetings with my supervisor to go over my results and plan future work

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I ended up with little to do coming up to holidays, but that was because I worked too hard to get everything done quickly!

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibilities during the smartlab move and and ran a bay in a subsequent cleaning day.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My time management skills have greatly benefitted from this year, as have my practical skills in the lab.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was usually very quiet but there were break areas that allowed a bit more noise.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Aside from a few hiccups, I felt the placement was well organised.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was allowed to go to several lectures that I feel will help me in my final year of uni.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am not a fan of the location so I will be searching for jobs further north preferentially but never say never.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The students in my department had some sort of out of work gathering most weeks, including a trip to Brighton.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Far too expenisive, paying London prices in Stevenage is not my idea of fun.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Absolutely apalling. There is one 'club' which should be avoided at all costs. Better to get the train into London for a night out.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I regularly took part in both horseriding and pole-dancing classes but had to drive around 20-30 minutes to each.

    5/5
