The Role
I felt it was really rewarding
I felt valued by most colleagues and some made a real effort to make other employees value the students more.
I had weekly meetings with my supervisor to go over my results and plan future work
I ended up with little to do coming up to holidays, but that was because I worked too hard to get everything done quickly!
I was given responsibilities during the smartlab move and and ran a bay in a subsequent cleaning day.
My time management skills have greatly benefitted from this year, as have my practical skills in the lab.
The Company
The office was usually very quiet but there were break areas that allowed a bit more noise.
Aside from a few hiccups, I felt the placement was well organised.
I was allowed to go to several lectures that I feel will help me in my final year of uni.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I am not a fan of the location so I will be searching for jobs further north preferentially but never say never.
The Culture
The students in my department had some sort of out of work gathering most weeks, including a trip to Brighton.
Far too expenisive, paying London prices in Stevenage is not my idea of fun.
Absolutely apalling. There is one 'club' which should be avoided at all costs. Better to get the train into London for a night out.
I regularly took part in both horseriding and pole-dancing classes but had to drive around 20-30 minutes to each.
