The Role
Very enjoyable.
Felt like work done significantly contributes to the department. Limited contact outside communication directly related to work
Always willing to make time for you should you ask for it. Up to interns to ask for help though.
Balance between shorter and longer time tasks. Flet stretched on occasion but never overworked.
Given work of direct value to company, which it was up to me to independently manage
Significantly developed skills not covered in my degree but vital to a banking career.
The Company
Very relaxed, flat, supportive atmosphere. Help is always available when asked for. Different departments have different noticeable characteristics
Mostly very well organised. Some very minor extra activities could have been organised better
Provided with 1 week of high quality financial training in first week, followed by regular training and development sessions and events. One morning training at Bloomberg offices also included.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing. MUSI is one of only a few growing banks, and has an active focus on hiring in new junior talent.
The Culture
Small size created a friendly non-competitive atmosphere among interns. Would occasionally go out for food/drink/chat after work either with other interns or with colleagues.
Pretty expensive, but affordable on an intern's salary
Pubs and bars always busy at the end of the week. Personally didn't investigate much.
Firm ran several popular subsidised activities for both interns and regular employees (eg. white water rafting, river cruises etc). Interns also take part in a volunteering day, in addition to specially organsised social events.
