The Role
I really enjoyed my internship in Barclays. It is definitely sometimes challenging but you learn a lot for just 9 weeks which is really beneficial.
The team I have worked in was amazing. Every single one of my colleagues was really friendly, helpful and at the same time respectful.
I did not communicate with my manager that often, whcih was sometimes a struggle for me. However, when I have had meetings with him he was really helpful and approachable. Morevoer, all the other team members compensated.
To be honest, I was very busy in certain times but it wasn't all the same. There were some days where I did not have that much to do and some days where the work was quite a lot. Therefore, the key for you is to manage to achieve the balance and to manage the others' exspectations.
I believe that for an intern I was given enough responsibility. I had some really important tasks to do and of course some general ones. Nevertheless, I believe everything was beneficial for me.
I don't feel like my job role had anything to do with my degree to be fair. Although I am studying Management and doing a job in a bank, everyhting that I needed to do in order to be successful I learned during the itnernship.
The Company
The atmoshpere in my office was really good. It was a bit chilled, not strictly formal clothers which kind of helps you relax a bit more.
I believe the HR team did a great job whren organizing the internship. As an intern I had many events such as speaker sessions, learning sessions, breakfast sessions etc.
I would say that they invested mostly for the first week of my internship but from then on it is mostly you trying to learn and get hold of the valuable resources.

I believe I would be happy to come back at Barclays but only in certain areas. In addition, the different business units within the company cannot be compared.
The Culture
This is the aspect I believe could be improved. I am aware that we are quite a lot of interns but I feel I could have get to known my intern collleagues a bit better since we didn't have almost any social activities.
Lonodn is an expensive place but I think it is expected to be like that. I expected it to be a bit cheaper but the two greatest expenses are travel and accommodation.
I was working in Canary Wharf and it is a good place for going to a bar after work but I wouldn't say it is very good for a night out.
I totally agree that there were plenty of opportunities. As an intern ytou are encouraged to get involved in different voluntary activities and to meet with many people from different divisions.
