The Role
I was given interesting work which was not only engaging but helped me develop technical knowledge relevant to my service line.
I felt like my opinions were taken into account when working with my colleagues.
My supervisors explained the background and legislation relevant to the work I was given and gave me clear instructions regarding what they wanted me to do. I was given enough room to figure things our for myself and use my own initiative but they were always there to answer queries and help me where I was unsure.
This depended on how busy the office as a whole was, on some days I had lots of work to be getting on with but on other days particularly coinciding with 'holiday season', where the office itself was quieter, I found myself not having enough work.
I felt like a lot of the work I was given was significant and thus I felt it did place responsibility on me to do it accurately and well, however as mentioned previously I was always given support from my supervisors when necessary.
I think the work ethic this internship has helped me develop will be useful going into my third year of university but I think the skills I have developed will be of more use when I enter the working world. I have learnt to work in a team with colleagues but also have learnt to trust my common sense and use my initiative when necessary. I have developed my communication skills particularly with regards to my business writing style. But I think the most important thing is the fact I now have developed an understanding of how a big professional services firm such as EY operates and what it would be like to work for one and I am very happy with the experience I have had.
The Company
EY is an amazing place to work. The office itself offers a very pleasant environment but more importantly the people are friendly and welcoming. The culture of the firm as a whole is young and inclusive and I definitely think it would be a great place to work.
It was very well structured and where we felt we weren't provided with information we always knew who to seek it out from.
The firm invested time in us, making sure we learnt while on the internship. It is clear that given our salary we cost more than we earnt them but I think they are happy doing this as we are an investment to them and they not only want us to enjoy and learn from our internship, but they also want us to come back as grads.

I think that an internship appears to be a good route to getting a grad offer with the organisation. It seems like it would be a great place to work given that EY is quickly growing in accordance with its Vision 2020 strategy and as such is an exciting place to work.
The Culture
Yes, the other interns were always ready to go for a drink after work. There were also socials organised by the grads and the teams we worked in..
London is as expensive as I expected.
London has great night life.
There were opportunities to join networks within the firm which organised activities outside work.
