The Role
Initially I found the work boring and so made this clear to my counsellor, who then managed to get me on a really interesting project on client site.
Extremely friendly colleagues who are willing to listen and support you as best they can. There were some great socials and I felt included and valued by those at analyst level and partners.
My counsellor was helpful and understanding throughout the process and allowed me to work from home when it was inconvenient to go into the office. Any problems I had I felt comfortable speaking to my buddy, who was really down to earth and I'd now consider a friend.
There was never a day where I had nothing to do, which occasionally meant staying late for deadlines. However, I never felt overburdened or under too much pressure largely thanks to good management.
I worked very closely with my manager to write narratives and process maps for our clients operations, which was then presented to the head of the project. All the work I was doing felt meaningful and value adding.
The main three key skills I learnt were: client interaction, report writing and advanced excel functions. All of these will help me in whatever career I choose, as they're fundamental to success in business.
The Company
Generally a very friendly environment with appropriate humour.
Extremely well organised. There was an induction event in the first half of the week that equipped us for the rest of the internship.
