The Role
I really enjoyed my internship with EY, I gained some valuable experience in the Tax industry rotating around the sub-service lines such as BTS, TT, ITS and PFI.
I felt valued by my colleagues as I felt they gave me work that played a part in the projects they were working on at the time. It was great that they took the time to explain more complicated tasks instead of just giving a task which takes very little explanation.
I was given a lot of support while on my internship, being allocated both a buddy and a councillor who I was able to go and speak to about any issues or problems i happened to have. The teams in the sub-service lines were very supportive on a daily basis, and were very helpful!
I was kept busy on a daily basis, but the teams we're very understanding when I had to go and do work for a intern project throughout my six weeks. The teams were also very understanding when you didn't feel you could finish the work in time for deadline as you had other things on.
I was given enough responsibility in order to feel they had confidence in my ability and trusted my judgements but not too much that I felt out of my depth.
The skills I developed in my 6 weeks here will help me in the future whether it be during my final year at university or in my career. The skills involved, communication between both people in my team and clients, both in person and over email, excel skills, presentation skills, how to gather information and work in a team to deliver what we had found and many more.
The Company
The general atmosphere was great, it was a fun and friendly atmosphere, and was a great atmosphere to work in.
The internship was organised very well, with a 3/4 day induction and then a rotation already in place before we arrived. It was obvious people had been able to think of work before we arrived in a sub service line and even our Buddies and Counsellors also had got in touch before we arrived.
The company invested time into our training and our development with a 4 day induction getting us ready before we started.

The future employment prospects look very promising, within 2/3 weeks of finishing our internship we will all have found out whether we are being offered a place on the Grad scheme. Its clear within the firm there are many opportunities to prosper.
The Culture
Yes, the SIPs met every lunch, sometime with their buddies. We've been out for lunches with our buddies and a couple of lunches with our colleagues! Its been a socialable internship!
The cost of living depends on where you're living! And Socialising seems reasonably priced
In Manchester there are a lot of students therefore the nightlife it great.
There were many opportunities to get involved outside of work, with people going out for drinks, playing sport, lunches, coffee ect..
