The Role
The placement was structured really well. As well as spending time in our departments, we also went out on lunches with our 'buddies' and had evening activities such as bowling. The highlight was a day trip to Paris to see the Paris office.
A very friendly firm, and people were eager to make sure I had enough work and understood tasks I had been given.
The supervisors were always happy to answer any questions and explain anything that I did not quite understand.
Very up and down, but I was given ongoing tasks to fill my time if there wasn't anything for me to do. That being said, whenever something did come up that I was capable of doing, everyone was keen to get me involved.
A key responsibility I faced was to look through some final agreements just before they were signed and make sure everything was in the right place and there wasn't anything missing.
The training sessions I attended were very useful, and now have a much better understanding of some areas of law that I hadn't expected. But this was a two-way process; I was also able to apply the skills I had learnt during my GDL at college to the business context.
The Company
Everyone was extremely friendly, and there was a real buzz about the floor as completion of the deal approached. All the solicitors were happy for me to go and see them if I had any questions or needed more work.
No problem whatsoever - everything ran smoothly.
The training sessions I participated in were very much an added bonus that I had not expected. However, I was only there for two weeks, so there wasn't a great deal of time in which to undertake personal training and development.

Waiting to here back from the firm with the decision.
The Culture
All the fellow placement students were very friendly and keen to socialise.
The firm paid for everything during the scheme. I was also living with a friend, which meant that living costs were minimal.
The City, London - enough said!
There was a big charity football tournament one evening which the vac scheme students got involved with. On top of that, we had various activities on to keep us busy most evenings.
