The Role
The internship has been extremely insightful in terms of the industry, job role and business area I was placed in. I was able to get involved with the work from day one and that has allowed me to really experience what it is like working in a particular area.
Everyone has been very helpful and keen to chat, as well as listen to my personal opinions and contributions. I felt very valued as all of the questions I have raised throughout have been thoughtfully answered. I also feel I was able to add value to various projects, due to the level of value my colleagues placed on me.
My manager has been great, one thing in particular that has made my experience particularly great is my managers keen and genuine interest to help me succeed. Whether it was through beneficial weekly meetings or suggestions and tips with what to get involved and who to chat to.
Even when waiting on a task to come through, there was always something to do. Whether its for personal skill development, meeting with someone or getting involved with the online curriculum.
The responsibilities were mainly within being given certain tasks and completing them in the correct order of importance, as well as being able to search for the next task when necessary. Another thing I personally felt responsible for is completing various Excel based tasks accurately, in order to maintain high validity across the data which always feds into a bigger picture.
I feel that over my time spent at Barclays, everything I learnt and took on-board will contribute to my future. Not only have I been able to complete a few training courses which I can add to my CV, I have also collected a valuable amount of skills which I was able to develop and be aware of continuing to develop.
The Company
There is certainly a hard working feel to the office and that's everyday, during most hour. However, everyone is always very bubbly, open and understanding. Everyone works hard, but also consciously make time and place emphasis on building relationships with colleagues.
Though my tasks have not all been completely organised and ready for me, I actually feel that this has been a positive thing. I was able to interact with various people from my immediate team and not only. Though there was always something I could help the team with, I also had the opportunity to integrate with others and help out on a variety of things.
I feel that the genuine interest of managers and recruiters has been incredibly and has allowed me to grow and develop. Various training sessions, reviews, networking sessions have all contributed to my personal training and development.

I am very keen to continue my journey with Barclays having experienced an internship there. In terms of personal development and growth, I feel that it is a very suitable company to choose.
The Culture
Interns had often organised various networking events in the evenings after work as well as the the weekend, in order to explore London together. Everyone is very keen to meet and interact.
The accommodation was subsidized therefore living in London has been very affordable, due to the perk that Barclays have offered. Cost of living in relation to salary seems feasible and the social life is never ending.
The city never sleeps, there is always something to do and someone to do it with. Everyone is very keen to go out and celebrate.
Yes, I was able to join the company gym and various other sports clubs which many colleagues get involved with.
