The Role
It was a joy working in a Big 4 firm and the working environment is a lot more relaxed than I expected!
My colleagues at Deloitte are very welcoming and I felt that my integration into the team happened very quickly.
My colleagues have been asking whether I have enough work to do and we regularly have catch up sessions.
I have something to do most of the time.
After a bit of training, I was allowed to speak to clients. I also helped my colleagues draft official letters to the authorities and clients.
My role in tax involves a lot of client-facing activities. This internship has helped me develop my professional communication skills.
The Company
Very friendly. Quite a few socials and free lunches! People joked around all the time.
It was generally organised.
I've had quite a few training sessions prior to starting the internship and during the internship. I also had lots of opportunities for hands-on experience, which were beneficial.

The Culture
I went to lunch with other interns in the office almost everyday - we have developed a good relationship!
Reading is a perfect location, with close proximity to London. Accommodation can easily be found during summer as many students have gone home over the summer. It can be slightly more expensive compared to other towns outside London. Sparerooms is a good friend. I know some colleagues who commute into Reading.
There's good pub down the road which is a regular for many people in the office.
Went out with colleagues a few times.
