The Role
Business Change internship. Very friendly office, good open culture. Everyone is very relaxed and happy to help or just chat. The work involved analysing and suggesting solutions to business problems. Work is generally interesting and very structured, but can be tedious and not challenging enough at times. Some of the projects are quite start/stop, without enough solid work for an intern to do. However, the company was really helpful in listening to feedback and was flexible in being able to change my project to suit my suggestions. We were also asked to prepare two presentations in the first month of the internship, one to present to grads and one for senior staff. We were given a useful presentation skills session beforehand.
The people were very open and friendly. My opinions were generally valued. Constructive criticism was given when asked.
Excellent. Managers spent a lot of time near the start of the internship briefing us on the business and how it operates. Supervisors (and other employees) were always happy to answer questions about projects and the company, and always found time for us. Projects were very well explained.
Variable. Some days were very full of meetings, especially near the start. Once the inductions died down, I didn't feel like my projects required too much time - there was some waiting around between tasks and I ended up running around searching for extra work to do. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as it leaves some time for you to do your own reading/research.
As expected. Not too much near the start, but in the last two weeks of the internship I was given an individual project on which I was expected to organise my own meetings/research/documents.
Good development of presentation skills, experience of being in formal meetings and application of critical thinking in a workplace environment.
The Company
Very friendly and relaxed. Communal, especially amongst interns
Well organised in general, more thought could have been given with project allocations in terms of variety (different project stages and teams).
Insight sessions in the first 2 weeks gave a brief overview of other business areas. Presentation skills session was useful.

The Culture
Average. Some events organised, but it was sometimes a struggle to get people to hang out casually.

LANDANNN
