The Role
An extremely enjoyable 6 weeks that barely felt like work.
I was treated exceptionally well by almost all of the staff and made to feel like an important part of the team.
The support system is very good at EY and you are "counselled" by a manager.
Some days I was extremely busy and other times it was slow but that is just a characteristic of the trade.
I was given a decent level of responsibility but obviously you won't be submitting work directly to clients. Even Managers don't do that.
The internship bolstered my knowledge of software very well.
The Company
Whilst there could have been more on the social side. EY is an extremely relaxed atmosphere that makes working rather easy. There isn't any danger of getting screamed at by a director and some of the perks are fantastic.
I felt the firm as a whole was let down by its HR department who were terrible. I had minimal access to IT systems and most of the intern events were badly organised except for the induction. This might just be a characteristic of big firms but in some ways a five year old could have done a better job.
Yes I was given training to handle the systems and the business.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Long term they would be a great firm to work with.
The Culture
Maybe it was my department but I didn't feel that the social side was something that particularly excited me about EY.
Very high. It's London - what do you expect?
Pretty good.
Quite a bit to do if you like that sort of thing.
