The Role
I really enjoyed my placement at Pfizer, the responsibility that placement students get is high. The work is stimulating and interesting, there are also lots of projects to get involved in. The site where the offices are situated is beautiful, and easily the best offices I have worked in. The building has a lot of open space that encourages innovation and community.
I feel very valued by my colleagues, I know I can rely on them, and they on me. I am frequently asked to help out other colleagues and also asked my opinion when key decisions are made.
I have a weekly 1 hour meeting with my direct manager, where we discuss any operational or personal items. I also have a meeting with my team manager every 6 weeks. I then also have a meeting with the head of my department every quarter. If I ever have any issues any of the three managers can make time for me, they are very visible.
The beginning of the placement was a little slow starting as you are getting to know colleagues and the job. However after that it is down to you how much you want to do. Pfizer are very big on WLI (Work Life Integration), this pretty much means that they want your work and life to sync. They don't want you to overburden yourself so you are restricting your personal time, but they give you enough that you are kept busy. It is your choice however if you want to be involved in certain projects.
I was given a lot of responsibility, I had to work with Finance business partners around Europe, firstly with Germany, then I moved on to support Spain and UK. They had to rely on the work I was doing as they would be making key decisions on certain products based on the information I was supplying to them. I was also given plenty of opportunity to lead teams.
I believe I have been given every opportunity to develop my skills, in the professional world and out! I am now much more comfortable working with others and meeting new people. The work I have been doing has put in practice what I was studying at University.
The Company
Work hard, play hard! Sounds Cliché but as long as you got your work done there was plenty of time to have fun.
I think there were certain aspects that could be improved when starting; access to systems to being the only main issue!
I have had Six sigma training, communications training, presentation skills training, Personality test that would enable me to work with others. There were a lot more opportunities for more training however.

Very appealing, Pfizer hire placement students who perform well back usually.
The Culture
Yes of course, we had plenty of social activities with other interns and fellow colleagues. Nights out in London, eating out, Go karting, treasure hunt in Brighton, Murder Mysteries and many more.
The area is quite expensive to live and socialise but cheaper than London
Pfizer is situated in the countryside outside London, difficult to get anywhere without a Car. There is a company bus however.
Yes people were always setting up activities to do. We even had a social committee for my department that organised these events.
