The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my work experience. I found it intellectually stimulating and very dynamic, challenging me to do my best. I am confident I acquired valuable skills for the future and I am really grateful for the support I received from my team.
My colleagues were very friendly and I felt that my effort was genuinely appreciated by everyone in the team. People within the firm are very open and they invest in building strong relationships with their colleagues based on respect and trust.
People in my team were really helpful and they always tried to make time to assist me with all the questions I had regarding my role. I did not once feel sidelined because of my lack of experience and I appreciate everyone's commitment in helping newcomers adapt. I am very pleased with the support I was given and I appreciate the honest and constructive comments received from my manager.
In the beginning my workload was rather thin as I lacked the experience to tackle more challenging tasks. After my first month I started receiving an adequate amount of work which helped me further develop my skills and kept me engaged on a day by day basis. I rarely had moments when I had nothing to do and they became extremely rare towards the end of my internship.
Given that I had no previous experience in the field, I was surprised with the responsibility I was given. I was assigned on important tasks for the firm and I was in constant communication with senior people as part of my day to day job. I felt genuinely useful and I believe I made a good contribution to the team.
This has been a really inspiring experience for me. I am confident that the skills I developed will help me become more ambitious in my studies, while at the same time putting me in a better position to apply for future placements.
The Company
The atmosphere was a good balance between professional and relaxed. People are really serious about their work but do manage to share jokes and talk about more relaxed topics throughout the day.
There were minor issues in the beginning in terms of organisation due to the large number of interns. Other than those, everything was very smooth and generally well organised.
Although the initial training was rather short, this was compensated by the fact that the internship felt like a constant learning process. My team were very willing to help me understand what my responsibilities were, how the firm is structured and what they do on a daily basis.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I found the organisation to be a very appealing future employment prospect.
The Culture
Social events were encouraged in order to built networks and share personal experiences. Overall, the social scene was really good.
The location is quite close to central London, so obviously living and socialising costs were significantly higher than in most other places.
There is a wide range of choices in terms of Nightlife in London.
I was involved in a charity event where we helped a local foundation build a business plan to help them secure funding for their activities. Also, there were opportunities to join sports teams, socialise outside of work etc.
