The Role
I really enjoyed my internship and found the experience both challenging and rewarding.
I was consistently given work to do and never felt like i was a nuisance to my collegues. They were all more than happy to offer me help and guidance, both in terms of the work they gave me and in terms of my final intereview at the end of my internship to gain a place on the graduate scheme.
My manager was always available if i had any questions or issues -i was always encouraged to seek help if i didn't understand a piece of work/what i needed to do.
I was usually kept fairly busy as i was given lots of work to do,in times were work was light i just emailed my collegues to ask for help or develop myknowledge by reading through theinformation books provided to me.
Within reason, i felt i was given alot of responsibility during my placement. Obviously any work for clients i did do had to be checked because the firm was liable but through feedback i was given it was good to see work i did actually, after checks, being sent out to clients.
I think the placement has equipped me with both knowledgeand skills that will help greatly at university and once i start work.
The Company
The team were frindly and helpful but maintained the highest level of professionalism in their work
In general, well organised but it would have been beneficial for the team i actually worked with to have been told well in advance of my arrival so that i would have been able to take part in client visits.
At the start of my plaement I attended a 3 day course at KPMG's tax business school in london where I was taught about the company and areas of taxation such as VAT, personal and corporate taxation. I was given information booklets on all 3 areas to keep. I was also taught how to do all pieces of work before i was tasked with completing them.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
KPMG is definitely a place i'd love to work in the future.
The Culture
I was the only intern in my department in my office.
