The Role
The work placement was very enjoyable and had me doing work that I felt was important and relevant, as well as interesting.
Everyone made me feel welcome and always had time to help if I needed anything.
The managers made it clear throughout that if I needed any help to ask, and would always brief me on what I needed to do and where I could get the information from.
Throughout the month I was there, I almost always had something to do, but wasn't at the point where I was frequently leaving past 5pm.
I was briefed on a task, and then left to complete it. If I had any issues my manager was on hand to answer questions and provide help if needed, but nobody was looking over my shoulder throughout my completion on these tasks.
The placement I did was very relevant to my Degree, and I felt it helped me understand more the real world applications of my university studies. It also helped me develop my teamwork and time management skills over the course of the internship, which will benefit me throughout life.
The Company
The atmosphere was friendly, but people got the work done. However, this could have been due to our office being smaller, so everyone gets to know everyone very quickly. Although nervous about how it would be at the start, everyone quickly made me feel welcome with a very friendly atmosphere.
Very well organised. Had one hiccup due to a program on my laptop playing up, but it couldn't have been forseen.
Upon arrival we did some training to help us understand what we would be doing on our internship and why it's important, along with some e-learning. Throughout the internship, I was given more complex work as my understanding increased, allowing me to still be challenged throughout.

KPMG interviewed me and have offered me a graduate position, as long as I achieve the grades discussed with them.
The Culture
There were opportunities for organised sports events, along with social drinks and meals, for both the other interns, and for the rest of the office.
I lived at home during the internship, so my expenses were limited to food and travel, but it wasn't expensive, and KPMG helped cover some of the costs.
Great, but as it's the area I live in, I was used to it all already.
During my internship, there was at least one activity a week that we were given the opportunity to participate in after work, if we chose to.
